Growing a super dense forest as fast as possible

Autumn 2023 will be the start of a whole new chapter for the Trust. On a paddock (about 4000 square metre) next to the wildlife centre we will start growing a super dense forest in the fastest possible way. This will not only create a forest in a matter of just a few years but will also provide excellent shelter for the native wildlife such as geckos and skinks. By planting lots of different kind of native plants that are indigenous to this area, at a space of about 50 cm from each other, you create a fast growing forest with a rich biodiversity.

On top of that we are planning a natural looking pond that will also help attracting the native wildlife (an impression is shown below).
Predators will be kept out by building a fence, and rodents and mustelids will be controlled from the inside with (automatic) traps.
This will be a beautiful place to visit and can be combined with a look at the wildlife centre.

Photos in the gallery below show the speed of growth at the vegetation in the centre, click on the images to enlarge:

Native plants & plant establishment sale

We realize it can be a bit overwhelming to work out what the native plants are to a particular area (Marlborough in our case) but if you are keen to grow natives in your garden we are happy to help out with your plant selection. As a way of fundraising we sell plants that have grown by local nurseries but also wool mats, stakes and guards etc to make growing natives super easy and with a minimal amount of maintenance.
